Preparation
- In a small saucepan, combine a handful of fresh blackberries with a splash of balsamic vinegar over medium heat. Stir gently and cook for about 5 minutes until the blackberries soften and the mixture thickens into a syrupy consistency.
- While the blackberry mixture cools slightly, take two slices of artisanal bread. Lay thin slices of creamy brie cheese on one slice, then generously spoon the balsamic blackberry mixture over the brie. Top with the second slice of bread.
- Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a pat of butter. Allow it to melt fully, coating the bottom of the pan.
- Carefully transfer the assembled sandwich to the hot skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until the bread turns golden-brown and the brie begins to melt.
- Once the first side is golden, gently flip the sandwich over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, applying slight pressure to encourage even browning.
- Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing in half. Optionally, garnish with extra blackberries or a drizzle of balsamic reduction.
