Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples such as Granny Smith or Fuji
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup chocolate chips milk or dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil optional, for smoother chocolate
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts such as peanuts, pecans, or walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt optional, for garnish

Method

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Cut each apple into bite-sized wedges, removing the core and seeds.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the caramel sauce in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  3. Dip each apple wedge into the caramel sauce, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the coated wedges on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In another microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  5. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel-coated apple wedges. You can also dip the wedges into the chocolate if you prefer a thicker coating.
  6. While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle the chopped nuts and sea salt over the apple bites.
  7. Refrigerate the apple bites for at least 30 minutes to allow the caramel and chocolate to set before serving.

  • For a fun twist, try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin spice to the caramel sauce before dipping the apples.
  • Substitute the chocolate drizzle with white chocolate for a different flavor profile.
