Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the topping:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the bread is baking, mix the topping ingredients (sugar and cinnamon) in a small bowl.
  8. Once the bread is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove it from the pan and brush the top with melted butter, followed by sprinkling the cinnamon sugar mixture over the top.
  9. Allow the bread to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
