- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 3 to 4 minutes until onion is translucent.
- Spread the ground beef mixture evenly in the greased baking dish. Layer thinly sliced potatoes over the beef.
- Season the potatoes with salt, pepper, dried Italian seasoning, and paprika. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and grated parmesan on top.
- Pour beef broth or water around the edges of the baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until potatoes are golden and tender.
