  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat, add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the hot caramel, and stir constantly until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Gradually pour in 2 cups of whole milk or preferred non-dairy milk while continuously stirring the caramel sauce.
