Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish optional

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant and well combined.
  3. While the beef is cooking, prepare the tostada shells according to package instructions or bake them in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 5-7 minutes until crispy.
  4. To assemble, spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell.
  5. Top with a generous portion of the seasoned ground beef.
  6. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Finish with a dollop of sour cream and jalapeños if desired.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
