Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by peeling and washing 3-4 medium-sized potatoes until they shine. Grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor, then transfer the grated potatoes to a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes with 1 cup of shredded cheese, 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 large beaten egg, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of paprika (if using). Stir until the mixture is evenly blended.
  3. Using your hands, take spoonfuls of the mixture and shape them into sticks, about 4 inches long and 1 inch wide. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour enough oil to reach a depth of about 1 inch and heat it over medium-high heat to approximately 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place a few sticks into the hot oil, frying for about 3-4 minutes until golden-brown, turning halfway through.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the crispy sticks onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Give them a moment to cool slightly.
  7. For an extra touch, sprinkle with fresh herbs like parsley or chives and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
