Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish optional

Method

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. While the beef is cooking, preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the tostada shells on a baking sheet and warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  6. To assemble, spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell. Top with the seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Add a dollop of sour cream on top of each tostada and sprinkle with sliced jalapeños and fresh cilantro if desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your crunchy beef tostadas!
