Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 12 ounces beer lager or ale
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional for garnish)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Whisk together until well mixed.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  4. Pour in the beer and mix until just combined. The batter will be thick and slightly lumpy; do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. If desired, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
