Preparation Steps
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil until well blended. Add the cod fillets, ensuring they are thoroughly coated in the marinade. Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour for deeper flavor.
- While the cod is marinating, pour the leftover marinade into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, bringing it to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally for about 5–7 minutes until the marinade reduces and thickens into a syrupy glaze.
- Choose your cooking method for the cod. For baking, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 10-15 minutes until the fish flakes easily. For pan-searing or grilling, cook for approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
- Once cooked, remove the cod from heat and brush the thickened glaze over each piece. Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro.
