Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and orange zest. Use a whisk to blend well.
- Beat in softened salted butter until the mixture just comes together. The dough will be crumbly but should hold its shape when pressed.
- Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Rolling and Cutting
- Once chilled, remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it to a thickness of about ½-inch on a lightly floured surface.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes and transfer them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving 2 inches of space between each cookie.
Jam Application
- Gently coat the top of each cookie with a thin layer of raspberry jam, ensuring to leave a little space around the edges.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for approximately 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
Cooling
- Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let them cool completely before decorating or packaging.
Decorating (Optional)
- Sprinkle sparkling sugar over the cookies while they are still slightly warm for a festive touch.
