Step-by-Step Instructions for Ground Beef Stew
- In a large stock pot over medium-high heat, add the lean ground beef and minced garlic. Cook for about 10 minutes, breaking the meat apart until no pink remains.
- Add the chopped onion, medium carrots, celery stalks, and potatoes to the pot with the beef. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions soften.
- Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the sautéed beef and vegetables, stirring well to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth, water, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Add the dried pearl barley and bring to a low boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let the stew simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After 30 minutes, stir in the frozen peas and continue to simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve the Ground Beef Stew immediately, alongside crusty homemade buns or a fresh side salad.

Notes
For the best flavor and texture, serve right after cooking. It thickens further as it cools.
