Step-by-Step Instructions for Ground Beef Stew
  1. In a large stock pot over medium-high heat, add the lean ground beef and minced garlic. Cook for about 10 minutes, breaking the meat apart until no pink remains.
  2. Add the chopped onion, medium carrots, celery stalks, and potatoes to the pot with the beef. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions soften.
  3. Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the sautéed beef and vegetables, stirring well to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Slowly pour in the beef broth, water, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Add the dried pearl barley and bring to a low boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let the stew simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. After 30 minutes, stir in the frozen peas and continue to simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and serve the Ground Beef Stew immediately, alongside crusty homemade buns or a fresh side salad.
