  • 1 cup Maraschino Cherries drained and chopped

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe dish until smooth and liquid but not hot.
  3. Add both the white sugar and brown sugar to the melted butter and mix until smooth.
  4. Crack the egg into the bowl and add the vanilla extract, stirring until fully incorporated.
  5. If desired, add red food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
  6. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing gently until a dough forms.
  7. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries gently.
  8. Form the dough into balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  9. Slightly flatten each cookie ball and bake for approximately 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool on the baking sheet for 30 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
