Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
