Ingredients

  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pound Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro optional
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs optional for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes for less heat, if desired.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked Italian sausage, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cilantro (if using). Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon the cheese and sausage mixture into each jalapeño half, filling them generously.
  5. If using breadcrumbs, sprinkle them evenly over the stuffed jalapeños for added crunch.
  6. Place the stuffed jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the jalapeños are tender and the tops are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
