Dough Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine warmed almond milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, dried basil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually incorporate all-purpose flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until silky. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1-2 hours.
Filling Preparation
- Heat vegan butter in a skillet over medium-low heat and add sliced onions. Cook for 20-30 minutes until caramelized, then stir in spinach for 2 minutes.
Rolling and Baking
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread tomato sauce, add caramelized onions, spinach, and fresh basil.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice into 12 pieces, and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise for another 30-60 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 34-38 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
