Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound total)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and diced onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the onions are translucent.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chicken.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
