  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract optional
For the Coating
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 6 drops Gel food coloring pastel shades

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl until combined.
  3. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla and optional almond extract, then fold in the dry ingredients until a thick dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough and mix gel food coloring into each portion until desired colors are achieved.
  7. Chill the colored dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Roll tablespoon-sized balls of dough in powdered sugar until coated, then place on the baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until tops crack and edges are set.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
