Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round baking pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into ¼-inch pieces; toss them with lemon juice.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
  4. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and yogurt until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter into the pan and layer half of the apples on top.
  7. Dollop and gently spread the remaining batter over the apples, then arrange the rest of the apple slices on top.
  8. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the top for a caramelized crust.
  9. Bake in the oven for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown.
