Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch for flavor. Rub the brisket with spices and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil and sauté onions until caramelized. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. In the slow cooker, layer the onions and place the seasoned brisket on top. Mix glaze ingredients and pour over brisket.
  4. Cook on low in the slow cooker for 8-10 hours or in a Dutch oven at 300°F for 3-4 hours until tender.
  5. Let the brisket rest for 20 minutes then shred it in the cooking liquid.
